If you can find it in your area, try to pick up Bakers Sugar. It's superfine and dissolves very easily!

I wanted to try and put out some nectar for Hummingbirds but, the Prince told me I have to change it every day or they will get sick!! So...I am not good at that kind of deadline thingy so nixed the idea. Not into kill'n no hummingbirds If you girls ever get some and can take pics I would love to see them
I did put out a bird feeder and getting all kinds of birds..so fun to watch.

De'Anna, the only time you have to worry about changing out the nectar is if the weather gets hot - and then, you only need to change it out every 2-3 days. Store bought nectar needs to be changed much more frequently due to the additional/unnecessary ingredients they put in the food, but the straight sugar water can be left out much longer. I keep my feeders in the shade, and I've never had to worry about changing out the nectar - even though I live in desert - as the birds drain the feeders dry in a couple of days

We get a ton of hummers. I have 4 feeders in the front yard and 3 feeders in the back yard. Since the little suckers get a wee bit territorial, they're spread far apart. Otherwise, one will claim all and will be the only one that gets to eat!

They also recommend adding red food coloring to attract the hummers.

I never use food coloring and they find it just fine - likely due to the nipple on the feeders being red. They are hungry little critters!

And cute too. I saw the other day where there is a Hummingbird moth it looks just like the bird but not as big & it likes the same things the birds like too.

I had to look that up too just sounded so cool and they ARE!! Looks as if there are several colors and body types. Some call them Hummingbird hawk moths and some just hummingbird moths..maybe the same, dunno but they are cool! The Prince says we have them here in Colorado.. I never seen them so gonna research that too cuz he has to be right..always LOLOL
