Poodle Bottle Cover (Hooch Pooch)

MATERIALS
1 - 6 oz. skein Worsted Weight Yarn
2 - 8mm Black Round Eyes with Hole
1/2 yd. 5/8" Double Faced Satin Ribbon
1 - 1/2" Ready-made Black Pompom
1 - Set of Pompom makers
1 - Bottle measuring approx. 12" high with long thin neck and 3-4" base
Crochet Hook size G
Tapestry needle, sewing needle and thread and sharp pointed scissors.

GAUGE
3 1/2 dc = 1"

BODY

Rnd 1: With G hook, ch 16 loosely, sl st to join. Ch 3, (counts as 1 dc throughout) 1 dc in base of ch-3, 2 dc in ea ch around, sl st to join, ch 3, turn. (32 dc)
Rnd 2: 1 dc in ea dc, sl st to join. Ch 3, turn.
Rnd 3: 1 dc in base of ch-3, 1 dc in next 7 dc, *2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 7 dc, rep from * around, sl st to join. Ch 3, turn. (36 dc)
Rnd 4: 1 dc in ea dc around, sl st to join. Ch 3, turn.
NOTE: Rnd 5 is an increase round which may or may not be necessary. Fit the piece over the bottle to determine whether any more fullness is needed. It should fit the bottle loosely without stretching.
Rnd 5: 1 dc in base of ch-3, 1 dc in next 8 dc, *2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 8 dc, rep from * around, sl st to join. Ch 3, turn. (40 dc)
Rnds 6-16: 1 dc in ea dc around, sl st to join. Ch 3, turn. At the end of rnd 16 do not ch 3, end off.

HEAD

Rnd 1: Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. Ch 3, work 7 dc in ring, sl st to join. Ch 3, do not turn.
Rnd 2: 1 dc in base of ch-3, 2 dc in ea dc around, sl st to join. Ch 3. (16 dc)
Rnds 3-7: 1 dc in ea dc around, sl st to join, ch 3.
Rnd 8: 1 dc in base of ch-3, *1 dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * around, sl st to join. (22 dc)
Rnd 9: 1 dc in base of ch-3, 2 dc in ea dc around, sl st to join, ch 3. (44 dc)
Rnd 10: 1 dc in ea dc around, sl st to join, ch 3.
Rnd 11: 1 dc in ea dc around, sl st to join, ch 1.
Rnd 12: 2 sc in ea dc around, sl st to join, end off.

LARGE POMPOM (Make 8 )

Cut 3 strands of yarn 144 inches long and fold in half. Wrap yarn evenly over the large rings. Finish according to package directions on Pompom maker. Fluff and trim to form ball.

SMALL POMPOM - NOSE

Thread a tapestry needle with 2 yds of yarn and wrap evenly over the smallest rings. Finish as for large pompom. With needle and thread sew black ready-made pompom on front.
NOTE: When tying pompoms use an 18" length of yarn. Use ends to tie pompoms into place on poodle.

FINISHING

To position bottom feet and tail measure up 1" from bottom edge of body and tie pompoms on spacing feet approx. 1 1/2" apart. Place one pompom on top of head and one on each side for ears. Attach nose in center of face and sew eyes just above nose. With satin ribbon tie a bow on neck.
